New(ish) Friendly Faces at CHMS
Ruth Hansell – Assistant Teacher – After Care & School Day Substitute
After retiring as a nurse after 37 years Ms. Ruth is staying busy with us!
She’s been married for 26 years, and has 2 sons Brian, a teacher at Claymont & Christopher, an RN at Christiana. She also has 4 stepchildren and she and her husband Joe have a total of 11 grandkids. Ms. Ruth loves to sing and play piano, and her favorite thing about working at Children’s House is seeing how much they are learning and watching them grow every day.
Ruby Reyes – Student Teacher & Observation in Ms. Mimi’s Class
Ms. Ruby is a mom to baby girl Kasey, who is turning 1 this year! She’s also a teacher at La Petite Academy while working on her Early Childhood degree. When she has time she enjoys going for a run. The best thing about teaching, for her, is seeing kids realize they have learned something new – the “wow” factor!
Gina Pontillo – Job Shadowing
Ms. Gina is the youngest of our “familiar faces” around CH. She’s still in high school; working on education classes already and trying to decide what kind of a teacher to be! She;s leaning towards Early Childhood education, and as the 4th of 11 children – has lots of experience! She’s also our Ms. Carol’s niece J
Her favorite thing so far is putting lesson plans together that kids can get excited about – she loves seeing them completing their work cycle.
